Sitting Here Resting My Bones.

So, I’m currently taking a class on the History of Rock & Roll and before we left class my professor decided to play (Sittin’ On) The Top of The Bay by Otis Redding. This was my first time hearing the the song and I knew it would be one of my favorites. The song starts off with the sound of the ocean and throughout the song you can hear seagulls chirping, giving you the feeling of being near the bay. Redding’s voice sounds restless but at the same time soothing which adds to the song and the idea of just being at the beach. He ends the song whistling this catchy little melody which is my favorite part of the song. Whistling to me means you’re carefree, and how more carefree can one be at a beach sitting on the top of the bay.
